Maria and Adam’s romance started while working together as accountants where a Halloween party ended up bringing these two love birds together. Their costumes? So awesome. Harry Potter and Cho Chung! Adam proposed outside of Parliament Hill in Ottawa, on one cold cold night, where he pulled out her absolutely stunning ring out of…. Saran wrap. Adam had wrapped it in plastic to prevent any damage it to while it was being hidden in his wallet. Very practical Adam!
That stunner of a ring played a major performance in their Parisian style picnic engagement session we had the pleasure of shooting last spring. Maria and I had been talking back and forth leading up to it, as with all spring engagement sessions, you want to make sure mother nature has finally finished dealing out her fair share of snowfall and cold weather. The day we landed on couldn’t have been more perfect. No rain and a beautiful pink sunset sky without a cloud in sight.
When we arrived at Gairloch Gardens in Oakville, Maria had organized a gorgeous vintage picnic setup under the shade of a big tree. Pillows, picnic basket, pink sparkling wine, cheese, bread, flowers (made by the bride herself!) and the prettiest little engagement cake for two. It all worked perfectly with Maria’s mauve gown and Adam’s dressed down evening attire. They popped some champers and shared a walk in the rose gardens before we headed down towards the lake for some amazing shots among the boardwalk’s high stone wall.
We stopped in at Starbucks next before driving to our final location at the lakeshore in Oakville. This park is AMAZING for photographs. The beach was deserted, strewn with driftwood and situated next to a rocky hill that overlooks the water and lighthouse. The colours of Maria’s dress were complemented perfectly by those of the sky and sand, almost as if it was all planned. This was an engagement shoot of fates and we couldn’t be happier with the sweet and candid moments mixed with fine art portraiture that were achieved.
Maria and Adam’s story was proudly featured on The Knot – how he asked!

These two will tie the knot this June at the Riverbend Inn. Going to be a gorgeous affair for sure!
